Wonder what the AMS was up to 25 years ago… ? The AMS has a rich and interesting history beginning in 1915 when our student union first formed.
July 8, 1987: AMS Council passes a motion expressing displeasure with a proposal to exempt the children of UBC professors from paying tuition fees. The proposal went through despite the opposition.
July 22, 1987: AMS Council votes to distribute free condoms and information about AIDS.
July 22, 1987: AMS Council calls on the Dean of Science to find social space for Science students. The Science Undergraduate Society in those days scrambled tofind rooms. In 2007 they finally got a building of their own: the Abdul Ladha Science Student Centre.
