AMS Executive to March in Vancouver’s Pride Parade

For Immediate Release August 3, 2012

On Sunday, UBC Alma Mater Society (AMS) executives will join Pride UBC to march in the 2012 Vancouver Pride parade.  Participating in the Pride parade has become a staple for AMS’ executive teams.

“While participating in the event has become a fun part of the executive tenure, our appreciation of what the parade means and celebrates continues year-round.  The spirit of pride is felt very deeply by our organization,” said Matt Parson, AMS President. “Remaining inclusive and fostering a positive space for all students, staff and visitors to the UBC campus is a priority for everyone at the AMS.”

The parade begins in downtown Vancouver and winds its way through the West End – the historic center of Vancouver’s LGBT community – concluding at Sunset Beach and the Pride Festival. “We’re excited to see all the UBC students who will join us in the parade, at the festival and on the streets to show their pride in UBC and its diverse community.”
