Our Mission To provide our club members with the highest caliber recreational diver training. To provide a learning environment that is fun and enjoyable, safe, and respectful of the underwater environment. To conduct ourselves in a professional and courteous manner. Dragon Boat Club (UBC Dragon Boat Club) (President: Kan Cheung)
The UBC Dragon Boat Club is an athletic club for both new and returning paddlers to participate in dragon boat festivals and increase their athleticism. Our goal is to become a competitive team in the Rec A or B division while practicing twice a week starting in late September. We will end our season by racing in North America’s largest festival, the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat festival.

UBC Equestrian aims to unite the horse community and help riders and horse lovers continue to pursue their passions while studying at UBC. Our club offers various riding opportunities open to all levels of rider, social outings and the chance to compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.

Kendo Club (UBC Kendo Club) (President: Jonathan Ma)
The University of British Columbia’s Kendo Club has been active for over thirty years and promotes Kendo among students, faculty, and the general public. We are an affiliate of the British Columbia Kendo Federation, and maintain an active role in the organization. We are fortunate to be led by David Harding, with the aid of fellow instructors Masa Kagami and Bob Takagaki. Hiro Okusa, past head instructor and founder, remains active as an advisor to the club. We average about ten members per practice with alternating instructors, and practice regularly with members from other clubs, and vistors from Japan. Our membership includes people from a wide variety of backgrounds, skill levels, and ages. Everyone is welcome the join us, and we look forward to seeing you there!

The oldest martial arts club on campus, The UBC Kung Fu Association provides classes in Sanshou, Wushu, and Lion Dance. UBC Kung Fu also organizes social events for members to get to know one another and have some fun outside of class!

The UBC Sailing Club has been offering students and community members affordable access to sailboats and sailing instruction for over 50 years. We have grown to become the largest not-for-profit sailing club in Canada with over 400 annual members and 60 watercrafts. Our sailing lesson program has also become the largest and most affordable of its kind in Canada.

Synchronized Swimming Club (UBC Synchronized Swimming Club) (President: Kina Ellison)
UBC Synchro is home to both advanced and novice swimmers who compete within the Canadian University Synchronized Swimming League (CUSSL). We train from September to February and compete at Westerns and Nationals in January and February, respectively. We welcome anyone, new swimmers and previous synchronized swimmers, to join our team as we prepare to go for GOLD at these competitions!

We are the one and only Thunderbird Dance Team! The best jazz and hip-hop based team currently at UBC! TDT is made of a team of dancers who enjoy performing on campus and around Vancouver! There are auditions held at the beginning of each school year. Anyone with dance experience is welcome to audition. As our performances consist mainly of jazz & hip hop, training in these disciplines is an asset. However, we also welcome dancers from other disciplines that work well in a team environment!

Founded in 2011, we have developed teams for both Men and Women. In 2015 the Men’s team officially moved into the department of athletics, however it is still deeply connected with the club.

Triathlon Club (UBC Triathlon Club) (President: Jen Moroz)
The UBC triathlon club promotes the sport by holding six weekly practices. We encourage athletes of all abilities (first timers to seasoned professionals) to join. Weekly workouts are all optional and include two swims, two runs (one is a long easy run, and the other is intervals), a spin workout, and a long easy ride.
