Who are the members of the Student Administrative Commission and what do they do?

Caroline Wong, Vice President Administration (Chair)

  • Acts as signing officer of the AMS;
  • Reports the activities of the Commission to the AMS Student Council.

Adam Melhem, Vice Chair

  • sacvc@ams.ubc.ca
  • Chairs meetings, acts as signing officer of the Commission, and reports directly to the VP admin;
  • Informs and communicates to the AMS’ membership the activities of the Commission;
  • Coordinates and supervises the activities of the Commission;
  • Prepares agendas and takes minutes of the meetings;
  • Arranges meetings of the Commission;
  • Handles correspondence for the Commission;
  • Convenes Grad Class Council;
  • Troubleshooting and conflict-resolution management for club-related issues.

Alishia Adams, Clubs Administrator

  • Assist with club administration and the implementation of policies of the Commission;
  • Facilitate inter-club relationships through the organization of club forums and the SAC Wyne and Cheese;
  • Implement SAC sponsorship agreements to the benefit of clubs and constituencies;
  • Co-organize Colour Bash/Diversity Fair bi-annually with international commissioner;
  • Organize club constitution presentations, club de-constitution documents at SAC meetings;
  • Assisting the vice chair with organizing Clubs Days and executive orientations.
  • Enforces SAC policies in regards to the SUB;
  • Manages and updates newspaper labels and newspaper boxes in the SUB;
  • Handles allocation of lockers and parking space allocations with SAC vice chair;
  • Handles allocation of club offices and organizes office interviews with SAC vice chair;
  • Organizes monthly safety audits for the club offices;
  • Organizes weekly office usage checks to ensure proper usage of club offices;
  • Works closely with Bookings Commissioner in regards to the SUB.

Kathleen Handfield, Art Gallery Commissioner

  • Implement the policies of the Commission with respect to the Art Gallery;
  • Maintain the AMS Art Collection;
  • Organize shows of the AMS’ Art Collection;
  • Act as a liaison between the Bookings Office, the Commission, and any working group formed to deal with the Art Gallery.
