Committee Openings

Committee Openings

Life as a student at large is exciting. You get a vote on committees where the excitement happens without having to run for or sit on AMS Council as a formal councillor. Whether you’re into budgets, student life or advocacy, there is a committee out there for you. Under AMS Council, there are committees, and there are working groups (such as Student Issues and Equity Caucus).

Fill out this form by Wednesday, September 13th at 5pm if you’re interested in being a member at large on a committee! We will read your blurb out loud, but recommend coming by the meeting in person too because people respond better to an actual person speaking to them over a hundred written words. Attending Council is optional (but recommended).

IMPORTANT: An individual can, with certain exceptions, serve on ONLY one Committee at a time as a Student at Large. If you are interested in becoming an Officer of Council, visit this link to check out the job descriptions and apply through AMS jobs:

There are 9 officers of council positions:

Student Issues Caucus

  1. Officer for Commuter Students
  2. Officer for Mature Students
  3. Officer for International Students
  4. Officer for UBC Residence Students

Student Equity Caucus

  1. Officer for Students with Disabilities
  2. Officer for Gender Diverse Students
  3. Officer for Indigenous Students
  4. Officer for LGBTQ2+ Students

Wednesday, September 6th, 2-3pm, NEST 3518
Thursday, September 7th, 4-5pm, The Gallery
Monday, September 11th, 3-4pm, NEST 3518
