Finance Committee

The AMS budget currently weighs in at a little over $12 million. These funds come from your student fees and the profits earned from AMS businesses. The idea of the budget is to direct these huge resources in a way that best helps students and is consistent with the goals of the AMS. The Budget Committee is here to make sure that all the great AMS services and resources and events are adequately and appropriately funded at all times.

In addition to those powers and duties set out in the Bylaws, the Budget Committee is also responsible for:

  • Making recommendations about dealing with deficits
  • Distributing surpluses
  • Allocating surplus and non allocated revenue from donors and sponsors
  • Having such other duties as are assigned by Council from time to time
