Appealing Admission
As per the UBC Calendar, the Senate Admissions Committee will only hear appeals made with respect to the current year’s admissions decisions. If you want to appeal an admission decision, you must do so on the 15th of the month prior to the start of classes (i.e. Aug. 15).
Like the Senate Committee on Student Appeals on Academic Discipline, the Senate Admissions Committee has more flexibility than the Senate Committee on Student Appeals on Academic Standing. However, the Committee is unlikely to change a faculty’s decision if it is just a matter of the faculty exercising their academic discretion and there is not any procedural flaw or serious lack of fairness.
The AMS Student Advocacy Office can assist and represent you through this process.
