Important Deadlines

APPEALING A PRESIDENT’S ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON STUDENT DISCIPLINE (PACSD) DECISION

  • You should notify Amandeep Breen, academic governance officer for Senate and Curriculum Services, as soon as you know that you intend to appeal. She can be reached at 604-822-8141 or amandeep.breen@ubc.ca;
  • You have 45 business days from the date on the president’s discipline letter to submit your statement of appeal to the Registrar’s Office (extensions are possible).

REVIEW OF AN ASSIGNED GRADE

  • You have until July 15 for the winter session and Oct. 15 for the summer session to file a review of an assigned grade with Enrolment Services (Registrar);
  • The request must be accompanied by the necessary fee.

ACADEMIC CONCESSION

  • Students who are absent, or are unable to complete tests or other graded work for a valid reason, should discuss how they can compensate for missed work with their instructors;
  • Students absent from final examinations must request concession from the office of their dean or director;
  • Students must apply to the dean or director’s office as close as possible to the time their attendance is adversely affected;
  • In case of religious observance, the office of the dean or director must receive notification a minimum of two weeks in advance.

APPEALING A FACULTY DECISION ON ACADEMIC STANDING

  • You have 10 business days to file an intention to appeal with the Registrar’s Office after being informed in writing of the faculty’s decision (typically by the dean, associate dean, or a committee);
  • Within five days the Registrar will send you a copy of the senate regulations;
  • You have 15 business days from date of receipt of the information from the Registrar to file a statement of appeal.

APPEALING ADMISSION

  • You must submit appeals of admission to the Senate Admissions Committee before the 15th of the month before classes begin (c/o Enrolment Services).

PARKING FINE APPEALS

  • You have 15 business days from date of receipt of the information from the Registrar to file a statement of appeal.
