Give when you can. Take when you need.

NOTICE: As we are in the processing of moving into our new location to better serve our clients, the Food Bank will be temporarily closed due to ongoing construction in the LIFE Building. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and will be updating this page frequently.

The AMS Food Bank is an emergency food relief service for UBC students in need. We offer various non-perishable foods, personal hygiene supplies, and additional resources on budgeting tips, as well as news on local sales and events through our online blog.

Using the Food Bank

  • All UBC students with a valid student ID card are welcome to use the Food Bank.
  • Our clients are welcome to use the Foodbank up to 6 times a semester. This policy is in place to ensure that there are sufficient supplies of food for everyone in need. Our semesters run from September – December, January – April and May – August.
  • Upon each visit, individual customers receive one bag of groceries of their own preferences and families receive two.
  • Blue reusable bags are $2 dollars, however new clients receive a complimentary bag on their first visit. The Foodbank strives to be an eco-friendly and a sustainable service for those around us, therefore we ask our visitors to bring back their blue bags each time they visit for sustainability purposes.

If our resources are not meeting your needs, our staff will provide referrals to other Lower Mainland food banks and sources of financial assistance. Since we operate on a trust-based system, we will not turn anyone away.
