About the AMS
The AMS is here for you. They’ve got your back, throw the best parties, and fight the good fight. If students want it, need it, or like it: they’re on it.
Officially speaking, the AMS’s mission is: To improve the quality of the educational, social, and personal lives of the students of UBC.
Their priorities are determined by you: their members. So let them know what’s important to you. Maybe you want better transit, lower tuition, better concerts, cheaper beer, more housing options, or a chance to meet new people. Just send an email to the (your) President at firstname.lastname@example.org and they’ll see what they can do.
Who’s a Member?
Are you a UBC student? Then you’re a member of the AMS. You can be completing your degree or taking a single course. They don’t care what you’re studying (or if you’re studying at all). All students are able to vote in AMS elections and take advantage of everything the AMS has to offer.
AMS Council is made up of elected representatives from each faculty (e.g., Arts, Science, Commerce, etc.). They meet twice a month and govern the inner workings of the society. All students are welcome to attend. Check out the event calendar for the next meeting.
