AMS Sustainability Team

Michelle Marcus, AVP Sustainability

Hi! I’m a 4th-year student majoring in Environmental Sciences, with an International Relations minor. I’ve been interested in the environment since a young age, but since getting involved with UBCC350, a student climate action group, I’ve delved into the world of political climate action. I’m dedicated to advocating for meaningful action on climate change and bringing people together for movement building and collective action. I’m also passionate about social justice and Indigenous rights and where these intersect with environmental issues. I’m super excited to work with the rest of the AMS team to ensure the AMS takes strong leadership for sustainability, equity and justice. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have ideas for how the AMS can take bolder action on sustainability or if you just wanna chat about climate change. I’d be more than happy to hear your ideas. Nothing is too big or too radical!

Sam Tuck, Sustainability Projects Coordinator

Hi! I’m a 4th-year honours student majoring in Human Geography. I am particularly interested in changing urban systems and cultural narratives to help solve climate change. I am also passionate about environmental justice, as environmental degradation often perpetuates inequality, and those who contribute the least to climate change are often those who will bear the greatest burden of its effects. Outside of my work you can find me at a concert, skiing, biking hiking or at a cafe somewhere feeding my caffeine addiction.

Tanner Davies, Sustainability Outreach Coordinator

Hi! I’m a 4th-year student majoring in Commerce with a specialization in Business Technology Management, along with an Environment & Society minor. My passion for environmental sustainability initially came from living near the great outdoors of British Columbia, and then grew through my studies in Environment & Society and my involvement as Treasurer for UBC Sprouts. I am dedicated to utilizing food to assist people in making more environmentally conscious decisions and reducing their ecological footprint. I hope to use my experience on campus to increase the awareness of all initiatives relating to sustainability. For any questions regarding promotional outreach for sustainability initiatives, please feel free to contact me!
