External Briefs and Communications

Terms of Reference

The External Briefs and Communications Committee shall be composed of:

  • the Vice-President External Affairs, who shall be Chair;
  • the President;
  • five (5) non-Executive Council members.

The External Briefs and Communications Committee shall:

  • meet at least once a month;
  • have the power, pursuant to Bylaw 5(3)(d)(v)(3), to approve briefs to Municipal, Provincial, and Federal Governments or parties if such briefs are in accordance with already existing Society stances, as expressed in Council or Society Resolutions or in Executive goals;
  • briefs that are not in accordance with already existing Society stances shall be submitted to Council for approval on the recommendation of theCommittee;
  • review the Society’s membership in any external organizations annually and provide a report with recommendations to Council regarding any changes prior to the end of the year, with any recommendations subject to approval under Section II, Article 19.
  • propose annual goals for itself to Council for approval and be responsible for completing those goals; and
  • have such other duties as are outlined in the Bylaws or the Code or assigned by Council from time to time.
