The University Advocacy Committee shall be composed of:
(a) The Vice-President Academic & University Affairs, who shall be Chair; |
(b) the President;
(c) the UBC Vancouver student representatives on the Board of Governors;
(d) the co-chairs of the Student Senate Caucus;
(e) a representative from VP Academic Caucus, chosen by the Caucus;
(f) the Senior Manager of Student Services.
The University Advocacy Committee shall serve as a forum for student leadership elected to advocate to the University to discuss issues of importance to UBC Vancouver students and provide updates to one another on each governing body’s activities. Noting that all student members are elected independently, and are fiduciaries of multiple bodies, the University Advocacy Committee shall operate in a non-voting capacity.
The Vice-President Academic & University Affairs shall call meetings of the University Advocacy Committee at least once prior to each meeting of the Board of Governors, and prior to each meeting of the UBC Vancouver Senate. The University Advocacy Committee shall:
(a) discuss among themselves matters arising related to student concerns and needs as they pertain to advocacy to the University and on suggestions from Committee members;
(b) receive and share information and updates prior to each meeting of the Senate and Board of Governors, and discuss University policies under the care of the Board of Governors and the UBC Vancouver Senate;
(c) discuss and consider the results of the Academic Experience Survey, University Experience Survey, other key surveys, and usage rates of AMS Services to stay informed on emerging student concerns;
(d) and have such other duties as are outlined in the Bylaws or the Code or assigned by Council from time to time.
