AMS Subsidies

AMS Subsidies

  • Application deadline for Summer Session Term 1 is June 11, 2020
  • Application deadline for Summer Session Term 2 is August 6, 2020 (*Only if this your first term of enrollment for this year)

To improve the lives of students at UBC, the Alma Mater Society offers subsidies to those members who are experiencing genuine financial hardship. If you are able to demonstrate genuine financial hardship, you may be eligible either for a partial or full U- Pass Subsidy, a New SUB Fee subsidy, AND/OR a complete AMS Subsidy.

All subsidy applicants must provide a written statement that demonstrates their financial needs, in addition to any supporting documents. Once the final date for applications passes, the AMS Finance Department will review all applications and will rank each one, according to greatest financial need. As funding for these subsidies is limited, your ability to demonstrate financial hardship does not guarantee a subsidy, and applicants may receive one, but not necessarily all of the subsidies. Please note that students must be eligible for the U-Pass to be eligible for the U-Pass subsidy. Only successful applicants will receive notification in the form of a credit on their student financial account, one month after the deadline for submissions.

Students registered in both terms of the Winter Session who wish to apply for a subsidy must apply by the end of the second week of classes in Term 1.

Information collected in this form is subject to the BC Personal Information and Protection Act and will only be used by AMS employees for the purposes of determining eligibility for fee subsidies.
