VANCOUVER, BC – After a long and thorough search process, the Alma Mater Society (AMS) of the University of British Columbia is excited to announce the appointment of Ben Du as Interim AMS President effective December 19, 2023.
AMS Council at its December 6th meeting voted unanimously to approve this decision and we look forward to welcoming Ben back into the AMS. The 6-member Interim AMS President Search Committee reviewed dozens of applications, conducted several interviews and ultimately recommended Ben for the role to AMS Council.
Ben has been engaged with the AMS for many years including serving as Associate Vice-President Administration in 2021, followed by a very successful term as Vice-President Administration in 2022. As VP Admin, Ben hosted one of the largest and most successful AMS Clubs Fairs in recent history showcasing 320+ Clubs, 19 student artists, and 9 SuperDogs shows. Ben was also a primary architect of the AMS’ first strategic plan (The Next Quinquennial: 2023-2028).
Over the next couple of weeks, Ben will be undergoing the necessary transition to equip him with the relevant knowledge to be successful in the role.
