November 20, 2024. VANCOUVER – The AMS of UBC would like to congratulate Premier David Eby, his recently appointed cabinet, and the rest of the MLAs on their election to the B.C. legislature. The key decisions made by the provincial government in the next few years will decide the future of several issues faced by students such as housing affordability, food security, transit and affordability.
The key issues that the AMS will be advocating to the provincial government are the Skytrain to UBC, expansion of the B.C Access Grant, the review of Post – Secondary institutional operational funding, the commitment towards effective post-secondary sexual violence prevention, and harm reduction.
In addition to this, the AMS will be working with multiple stakeholders across the province to ensure that British Columbia’s commitment towards improving the lives of students remains a top priority.
The AMS will continue to establish strong, long-term relationships with the newly elected and existing MLAs across all parties in British Columbia. We look forward to working with each MLA to champion a student-first mandate, ensuring a brighter future for every post-secondary student in the province.
