Here are notes from the regular AMS Council meeting of February 24, 2021 (held virtually on Zoom):
Budget Reforecast: VP Finance Lucia Liang reported to Council that because of the effect of COVID on AMS businesses, revenues are down, and the projected deficit has been increased.
Art Online: VP Administration Sylvester Mensah Jr. said efforts are underway to obtain digital reproduction rights for the works in the AMS permanent art collection so they can be exhibited on the Hatch Art Gallery’s website.
Policy Updates: Council approved updated versions of the Records Policy (bringing it in line with the recent Bylaw amendments) and the policy on petition privacy.
Interactive Sustainability Centre: After vigorous debate about whether creating a small meeting space for sustainability was a worthwhile use of AMS funds, Council narrowly approved an expenditure of $26,000 for that purpose.
Steering Committee: Council approved a Code change to broaden the mandate of the Steering Committee. It will now assist in the preparation of Council agendas and will also coordinate orientations and other Council activities, and ensure that committees are submitting reports and minutes.
Next meeting:
The next regular Council meeting will be held on March 10, 2021 on Zoom.
