Transit Strike Update – Oct 31

Unifor, the union representing transit workers have announced that, should a tentative agreement not be reached by 8 a.m. on Friday, November 1, strike action will begin with transit operators on all routes not wearing the Coast Mountain Bus Company uniform and CMBC’s technicians and skilled trades workers refusing overtime shifts. Read the Unifor release here.

The AMS still encourages everyone to plan alternate ways of commuting to/from UBC in the event that strike action escalates. AMS, the Nest, AMS food outlets, Nest Catering, AMS Services and the SASC will operate as normal. All employees (full time, part time, and student staff) are expected to attend work as scheduled. Speak with your supervisor or manager if you are concerned about arriving late or missing work.
