AMS & Sub Renewal Fee Subsidy Application

To improve the lives of students at UBC, the Alma Mater Society offers subsidies to eligible members who are experiencing genuine financial hardship. If you are able to demonstrate genuine financial hardship, you may be eligible either for a New SUB Fee subsidy, AND/OR a complete AMS Subsidy.

Applications open for Winter Term 1 are September 3rd – September 24th, 2024.

STUDENTS CAN ONLY APPLY FOR THIS SUBSIDY DURING THE FIRST TERM OF THEIR ACADEMIC YEAR. Please check your SSC to see if you have been assessed fees before applying.

This subsidy applies to the following fees. If you are not assessed these fees this term, you are not eligible for this subsidy at the moment.

  • AMS Athletics and Intramurals
  • Bike Kitchen
  • Student Clubs Benefit Fund
  • Campus Culture & Performance
  • CiTR Radio
  • Capital Projects Fund
  • International Projects Fund
  • Indigenous Student Fund
  • Climate Action Fee
  • Ombudsperson
  • Thrift Shop on-campus Fee
  • AMS Resource Groups
  • Sexual Assault Support Fund
  • Sustainable Food Access Fund
  • AMS Financial Assistance Fund
  • Student Legal Fund
  • Student Refugee Fund

All subsidy applicants must provide at least one supporting document that demonstrates their financial needs. Once the final date for applications passes, the AMS Finance Department will review all applications and will rank each one, according to the greatest financial need. As funding for these subsidies is limited, your ability to demonstrate financial hardship does not guarantee a subsidy.

Information collected in this form is subject to the BC Personal Information and Protection Act and will only be used by AMS employees for the purposes of determining eligibility for fee subsidies.

Only successful applicants will receive notification in the form of a credit on their student financial account.

The processing time of these applications will take longer than usual if we receive a large number of response. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
