Housing Issues

AMS Advocacy provides students with general information about their rights as a tenant and one-on-one support sessions to students in a dispute with UBC Student Housing or their off-campus landlord.

Most rentals are governed by the Residential Tenancy Act. UBC Student Housing is exempt and you should refer to your Residence Contract.

For off-campus tenancy issues, helpful information is available on TRAC’s website and Tenant Survival Guide.

We cannot help students find housing or roommates, nor gain admission to UBC Student Housing. Further, AMS Advocacy staff are not legal professionals and do not provide any legal advice. If you require legal advice, please contact the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program or Tenant Resource & Advisory Centre.
