Are you passionate about safety and looking for a flexible part-time opportunity? AMS Safewalk is hiring Safewalkers and Drivers for the summer semester!

Safewalk provides a free service to accompany students, staff, and visitors across campus at night, ensuring a safer and more welcoming UBC community. Join us in making a difference while earning $17.96 per hour!

Position Details:

Position Title: Safewalker and/or Safewalk Driver
Employee Status: Temporary, part-time until August 31, 2025, with possibility of extension
Hours Per Week: 10-20 hours (minimum 12 hours availability/be available for 2 shifts per week)
Pay Rate: $17.96 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Walk or drive clients safely between points on campus.
Maintain visibility and accountability during patrols.
Promote Safewalk services and participate in campaigns.
Complete necessary documentation and act professionally as an AMS representative.

Requirements:

Must be a currently registered UBC student.
Must be available for late-night and weekend shifts.
Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent (mandatory for driving roles; an asset for non-drivers).
Minimum 12 hours of weekly availability.
Willing to submit a criminal record check.
Mandatory training on May 9th and 10th, 11am-4pm each day.

If you pass the interview stage, you will need to complete a short driving test (15 minutes) on April 26th, will you be available (Yes or no)?
May 1st will be the start date, which will include online asynchronous Canvas training and your first shifts as a co-pilot that week. Are you available to begin work during the week of May 1st (Yes or no; if no, please indicate what date you’re available to start)?
Are you available for mandatory Safewalk training on May 9th and May 10th from 11am-4pm both days (Yes or no)?
