In the face of rampant consumerism and environmental concerns, the AMS Lending Library takes a more responsible and conscientious approach. By offering a low-cost, accessible and eco-friendly alternative to conventional purchasing, it’s forging a path toward a sustainable and equitable future for the UBC community.

How to Place an Order

1. Browse our inventory through our online website
2. Select the items you want to borrow and add them to cart
3. Once items have been selected, place the order using the checkout function. Ensure you use your full name as indicated on your UBC Student ID
4. Once receiving an order confirmation via email (2-3 business days), you may pickup your item during one of the allotted office hour time slots. NOTE: Do not visit the Lending Library until you receive this email
5. When returning your item, please return the item at one of the drop-in office hour sessions

Additional Information

• All items can be rented for a maximum of 7 days, if the item is kept for more than 7 days appropriate fees will be charged upon return
• Rental fees range from a flat rate of $2 or $5, with all proceeds going towards maintaining the lending library and expanding our inventory of items. Rental fees will be collected in cash at the time of pick up
• If you are planning to rent multiple items, it is advised that you rent each of the items in separate transactions in order to receive item confirmations for each individual item more quickly

Office hours are located in LIFE 0017 and provide an opportunity for students to ask how the AMS can support their student-led sustainability projects or general inquiries about the AMS Sustainability Projects Fund. To book an appointment outside of the scheduled office hours, please contact the Sustainability Projects Coordinator at sustainprojects@ams.ubc.ca or the AVP Sustainability at sustainability@ams.ubc.ca.

The Lending Library is open Wednesdays at 2-4pm and Friday 12-2pm
