If you’re looking to roll-up your sleeves and get stuff done, join an AMS Committee! Committee members meet 1-2 times per month and help guide the society’s work.

Available Committees

Finance Committee. Love budgeting and crunching numbers? The Finance Committee provides oversight and accountability for our finances and advises the VP Finance and the Managing Director on business and financial matters. The Finance Committee is responsible for administering the Fund Subcommittee and Sustainability Projects Fund Subcommittee as well as approving our budget and monitoring our financial activities. This committee usually meets for an hour weekly. Total time commitment is 3-5 hours bi-weekly.

Governance Committee. If you love policy and governance structures, this is the committee for you! The Governance committee works on periodic governance reviews and decides on changes to AMS Code and Bylaws. This committee usually meets for an hour weekly. Total time commitment is 3-5 hours bi-weekly.

HR Committee makes recommendations on the hiring of the Ombudsperson, the Speaker of Council, and the Elections Administrator. The committee also makes recommendations on compensation levels, terms of employment for student government staff, and on Executive compensation. Great for HR students seeking leadership experience! This committee usually meets for an hour bi-weekly. Total time commitment is 3-5 hours bi-weekly.

Building Operations Committee. Help keep the Nest running smoothly and sustainably. The Building Operations committee oversees the Nest and bookings, sustainability, IT policy, and approves new and existing clubs. The Operations Committee also oversees the Sustainability Subcommittee, IT Subcommittee, Hatch Subcommittee, and Grad Class Gift Subcommittee. This committee usually meets for an hour weekly. Total time commitment is 3-5 hours bi-weekly.

NOTE: With certain exceptions, students-at-large can only serve on one committee at a time.
