Brewfest 2026 Event Rules

For the best event experience, follow the Brewfest event rules below.

The DO’s 

Bring your proper saloon papers (ID) – Valid government-issued ID is required before you enter the Brewfest saloon. 

Ride steady, cowboy – Pace your drinks and know your limits. 

Stay Hydrated – Water stations are around the saloon, so stay hydrated. 

Listen to the sheriffs (staff & volunteers) – They keep the town running smooth and safe. 

Show good frontier manners – Respect fellow cowboys, cowgirls, vendors, performers, and staff. 

Stick to the main trails – Use designated areas for tastings, games, seating, and exits. 

Ride with your posse – Look out for your friends and make sure everyone gets home safely. 

Try the brews and enjoy the town – Explore the breweries, games, and Wild West atmosphere. 

Know when to hang up the spurs – If you’ve had enough, switch to water and take a break. 

Hold onto your cup – If you happen to lose your cup, no worries — replacement cups are available for 1 drink ticket. 

The DON’Ts 

No young guns allowed – Anyone under the legal drinking age or using fake ID will be turned away at the saloon doors. 

Don’t drink like it’s the last call in the Wild West – Overconsumption may lead to refused service or being escorted out by the sheriff. 

Leave your outside bottles at home – Outside alcohol or drugs are strictly prohibited. 

No outlaw behaviour – Harassment, aggression, or making others uncomfortable won’t be tolerated. 

Don’t wreck the town – Damaging decorations, equipment, or property may get you removed from the event. 

No running through the saloon – It’s crowded territory; move safely through the space. 

Follow the town signs – Respect posted rules, capacity limits, and instructions. 

Don’t saddle up and drive – Plan a safe ride home (transit, ride-share, or a sober driver). 

Don’t lose your cup – If a cup is lost, you need to redeem another drink ticket to redeem another 

Keep the games friendly – Save the bar fights for the movies. 

Don’t aim your gun around – Don’t shoot your nerf guns at anything other than the game targets 

Brewfest Frequently Asked Questions

I have multiple tickets under my name!

Each ticket has its own unique, individual QR code. If you have multiple tickets under your name, prepare to scan ALL QR codes for each ticket. To expedite entry, please download the Bounce app or log into Bounce via the web browser on your device.

Is there a coat check? Can I keep my bag with me?

There will be NO coat check at Brewfest, but you can keep your bag with you during the event. However, you will be asked by security to remove any external food/drink eg. water bottles.

UBC Card Policy

All UBC-Tier Ticket Holders are required to present a valid UBC student card for entry in addition to 1 government-issued ID with birth date.

Please have your valid UBC student card ready to present BEFORE you arrive to the front of the entry line. If you don’t have your physical UBC card, please show your digital UBC card by logging into your CWL at this link: https://services.ubccard.ubc.ca/

Reasons You May Be Denied Entry or Removed From Brewfest

You may be denied entry or removed from Brewfest for the following reasons:

  • Appearing intoxicated
  • Failure to present 2 pieces of ID along with event ticket
  • Failure to present a valid UBC student card along with UBC-tier ticket

Which 2 IDs Can I Show to Enter Brewfest?

To check if your primary and secondary IDs will allow your entry into Brewfest, check the Government of BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch website. Government-issued IDs must be the original copy – digital IDs and photocopies are NOT VALID forms of ID.

No External Food or Drink

External food or drink will not be permitted inside the event area. There will be snacks available for purchase inside the event.

Are Event Ins and Outs Allowed?

Because washrooms are outside of the event area, you can enter and exit the event area as you need – just keep your wristband on!

Event Security

Before entry, security will conduct bag checks and pat-downs for all guests. This is for the safety of all guests, performers, and staff.

Why Are Combo Ticket Holders Asked to Leave at 7:00PM and Return at 7:30PM?

Combo Ticket Holders are asked to leave at 7:00PM and return at 7:30PM to allow staff to prepare the event space for Seating 2 Ticket Holders. This allows all guests to have the best event experience.

Using AMS Safewalk After the Event

If you feel unsafe navigating campus at night on your own, AMS Safewalkers can accompany you from 8PM to 2AM every night. Call 604-822-5355 or go to the Safewalk office at NEST 1314.

Please keep in mind that Safewalk drivers have the right to refuse service to anyone who cannot clearly consent to receiving a ride/walk accompaniment or cannot care for themselves due to intoxication. For a full guide of how to use AMS Safewalk, visit their website here.

How to Find the Nest Great Hall for Brewfest

Brewfest is in Nest Great Hall, which is on the 2nd floor of the AMS Student Nest (“The Nest”).

Where Can I Find the Great Hall Inside The Nest?

To find the Great Hall, take the elevator or the stairs to the 2nd floor of The Nest. You will know you have arrived when you see the Great Hall Foyer (see video below):
